José Augusto García Navarro is a specialist in Geriatrics and has a Diploma in Clinical Management from EADA Business School, a Diploma in Healthcare Services from ESADE Business School, a Diploma in Leadership and Team Management from Universidad de Barcelona and studied on the Senior Management Programme at IESE Business School. He has held the positions of Director of the Hospital de la Santa Creu in Tortosa, Health and Social Care Director of the Sagessa Group, Managing Director of the Sagessa Group Operations Area, Managing Director of Hospital Universitario San Joan de Reus and Director General of the Sagessa Group (a public hospital group with 3,400 professionals, 6 hospitals, 5 primary care areas and 11 nursing homes).

He currently holds the position of Director General of the Catalan Health and Social Care Consortium (42 hospitals, 54 geriatric rehabilitation centres, 57 primary care centres, 171 nursing homes and 46,000 employees).

He has held the position of Coordinator of the Health and Social Committee of the Health and Social Consortium of Catalonia, and is a member of the Social and Health Care Master Plan Advisory Board of de Catalunya Department of Health. He is currently a member of the Catsalut Management Board and the author of many publications on geriatrics and hospital management. He is a regular speaker at state

and international congresses on the subject of Geriatrics and health care management and planning and an and a ANEP (Spanish Agency for Evaluation and Foresight) evaluator in research projects with competitive funding related to Geriatrics and health care management.

He is an associate professor on Master’s Degree Management programs at Universidad Internacional de Catalunya and Universidad de Barcelona. He often works as a public health services consultant in different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Since June 2019, he has held the position of President of the Spanish Association of Geriatrics and Gerontology.
